Parties and Party Games With Geeknson Tables12.08.2021 10:30 AM

Colossal campaign games like Gloomhaven or Tainted Grail are great when playing with your dedicated group of game savvy people who can grasp all the complex mechanics and work together to have an amazing time. Still, we bet not all your friends are like this.

With board gaming becoming an increasingly popular pastime it’s good to have some games ready for people who have little to no experience with area control and worker placement. Many avid board gamers we know started by playing Codenames, Decrypto, Just One, Dixit, Sushi Go and other well designed party games.

So how can tables like Megan, BRISTOL, Henry and many others known from our catalogue improve your parties with more casual players? Let us show you.

Cover the Table, Have a Meal

When talking about our tables we often put a lot of focus on the fact that they were designed not only for gaming. You can always begin your party by having a meal together or munching on some snacks. Cover your table with wooden tabletop leaves (present in most of our recent creations) and serve whatever you feel like to. As the leaves make everything below them entirely safe, you can easily cook anything you want and never think about how it can damage your games.

Smoother Gameplay and Even More Fun

When you’re done eating, time to take out your precious game boxes, deal cards, meeples, tokens and everything else you need to play your games. Most of our bigger tables can accommodate larger player numbers, up to 8 or even more. This way both teams playing Codenames will be able to sit around the table without the need to stand up.

Since many games designed for parties (like Dixit or Sushi Go) are based heavily on cards, the fabric inset present in many of our creations will work wonders. It allows fast picking of cards and lowers the chances of getting them damaged. They’ll also be harder to accidentally move.

Our dice trays and dice towers will add lots of fun to a tiny bit more complex party games like Bang! The Dice Game or the popular King of Tokyo. Players should also enjoy counter holders that help them keep their possessions in one place. Same with individual player stations, great for having that little personal space to keep your components in.

Drinking, Snacking and Scoring Points

Snacks are an inseparable element of many good parties but they’re often a bit of a taboo when it comes to playing board games. Chips and other crunchy foods are nice to snack on when playing and talking but they pose quite a lot of danger to your table. Luckily our furniture is easy to clean and we offer plenty of containers that are compatible with Geeknson tables and can keep all the greasy stuff away from your game.

Protection from beer, wine and all sorts of sodas was a high priority when designing all of our products. Apart from the Keep Dry System, we offer tons of cup and glass holders installable in the outer part, away from the playing area. And if you want another level of safeguarding your boards, an acrylic layer we have in our offer will do the trick. Just put the game board below it.

Slippery Slope

A high quality board game table can also be a great way to make your friends interested in board games in general. While usually a good game and a person well versed in explaining the rules is enough to make people consider getting a new, dice heavy hobby, our tables have many features that make games seem even more attractive.

Take the LED lights for example. Manipulating the atmosphere with them to fit every game you're playing or mark the final round with some dangerous looking red light will make your party a night (or evening) to remember. Same with many QoL accessories or stuff like music played thanks to wireless chargers. Who knows, maybe after a month or two you will play Terraforming Mars or Brass: Brimingham with these people. With how addictive board games are - you never know ;)
